Charlie Rose conversation with Evan Williams, CEO of Twitter
In February, Charlie Rose interviewed Evan Williams, CEO and co-founder of Twitter. It is one of the fastest growing sites on the Internet. Twitter combines social networking with a new trend called microblogging. Users communicate using a maximum of 140 characters. Though less than three years old, Twitter has an estimated 6 million users.
Online communications is something Williams knows a lot about. Before Twitter, he founded blogger.com, one of the most popular blogging platforms. The interview is about 25 minutes long and provides some interesting insight into social networking trends.
Web 2.0 Summit 08: Mark Zuckerberg CEO of Facebook
This past November, John Battelle (Federated Media Publishing), sat down for a conversation with Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. There was lots to talk about, and Mark answered questions about, among other things, Facebook products, privacy issues, rumors about recent fundraising by the company, and competition with platform developers.
The interview is about 35 minutes long and provides some insight into the young CEO of the hugely popular social networking application and how these tools are changing the way we interact and collaborate with our peers.
The Power of Social Networking
At the Google Zeitgeist conference this past September Peter Hirshberg interviewed Best Buy CEO Brad Anderson about his efforts to accelerate the Best Buy's growth strategies through the use of social media. We often think of social networks, wikis and the like as impacting only marketing or the media, but Best Buy is a great example of how they can fundamentally transform the enterprise and the art of management. And in so doing unleash new productivity, creativity and a smarter customer experience. We can think of Best Buy as a leading indicator what businesses may start to look like in the near future, that is, how companies tap into the power of the crowd.
The interview opens with a short video highlighting much of what Best Buy has been up to in trying to foster an open, collaborative approach with partners, employees, customers and developers: click on the player below to view the entire conversation with Brad Anderson, starting with "The Company as Wiki" video.
